This past weekend we took a little trip to New Haven, KY, home of the KY Railway Museum, and the 2010 Day Out With Thomas celebration. If I haven't mentioned it already, Manu loves Thomas the Train, and all of his railway buddies, so it was no surprise that he had a great day. We got to ride on a train car that was pulled by Thomas himself, plus play on lots of train-tables that were set up with different train sets. Manu got to "meet" Sir Topham Hatt, the railway director on the Island of Sodor, plus he enjoyed story-time and watching Thomas Videos. All in all a very useful day indeed!

Here comes Thomas!

Did he want to take the Big Thomas home?
ReplyDeleteI would've loved to see the look on his face the first time he saw the life-sized Thomas! What a fun day for Manu -- and just as fun (or more) for you both to watch him be so excited.

I'm typing quickly and covering the screen before Dosen (3) sees what Manu got to do. What a great day! I had an intern from England who told me Sir Topham Hatt was originally named The Fat Conductor, but the English didn't feel the Americans could handle that. Not sure if that is true, but it is definitely plausible.
ReplyDeleteMy kids always wanted to do that. After two boys and 821 Thomas Episodes with someone being "cheeky," I was done. :) Glad you had fun!
ReplyDeleteWe saw Thomas in the Cotswalds in England in 1994. They called Sir Topham Hatt the "Fat Conductor" there. Cheeky indeed!
ReplyDeleteFunny I saw the sign driving home today and thought about Manu :) After meeting him (& getting to know him a bit) I bet he LOVED this!!!!
